Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ athletics has announced the hiring of Kristen Mattio as the next head Women's Basketball coach.

On Friday, April 16, four undergraduate students from the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Monfort College of Business earned first place honors at the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative’s ninth annual Collegiate Program Case Competition.

This spring, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ is breaking ground on the new Empower Center, a $4 million, entirely donor-funded sports performance building. Thanks to these donors, including lead investors John ’84 and Angela ’89 Schmidt, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Athletics will continue their momentum in Division I with this world-class strength and training facility.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ is planning to return to a comprehensive, on-campus experience for the fall 2021 semester that will include a full schedule of in-person courses and restoring activities and events, allowing students to enjoy experiential learning, campus life and community engagement opportunities.

The Sears Helgoth Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s commitment to high-quality and innovative teaching along with the historical importance of the teaching mission at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ by rewarding faculty members (tenured, tenure-track, contract renewable) who have made outstanding contributions to teaching and learning.

Ather Zia, Ph.D., an associate professor of Anthropology and Gender Studies at the University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, was recently awarded the Public Anthropologist Award, a competitive award instituted by Public Anthropologist, an international, peer-reviewed journal.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students in the Master of Public Health program in 2020 had an unique experience earning a graduate degree online during a global pandemic.

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ announced that Kamel Haddad, Ph.D., will become the next dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences (NHS).

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ College of Performing and Visual Arts received a total of 96 new Steinway & Sons pianos, with most of them arriving in December of 2018, sealing the School of Music’s All-Steinway School status.

Tobias Guzmán, Ed.D., chief diversity officer and associate vice president of Student Affairs at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, is part of the new class of 32 exemplary, senior-level higher education professionals who will participate in the 2021 Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI), a premier leadership development program of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
