“We are excited to offer our own Free App Days because we see this as an opportunity to continually serve our student population that includes a large percentage of first-generation college students, especially this year due to the educational disruptions caused by COVID-19,” said Dave Fedorchak, Ed.D., director of Admissions at ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free App Day is an initiative started by the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Department of Higher Education in 2018, in partnership with ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ colleges and universities, to make it possible for more students to apply for college. While this event provides great access for in-state students, this year ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s Admissions team decided to extend the opportunity to out-of-state and international students, as well as for students who are completing their applications later in the year.
Also occurring on Dec. 1 is the first day of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s week-long Bearnanza, an opportunity for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ alumni and friends to donate to funds that support specific student success initiatives.
One of those initiatives is “Support a Future Bear” that allows donors to fund application waivers for future Bears who miss ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s Free App Day on Dec. 1. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and its alumni are committed to removing barriers to higher education before students even arrive on campus.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s 2021 Free App Days are happening on Feb. 1 and April 1, with the latter focusing on transfer student applications.
