ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ to Waive Application Fees on ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day
The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ is waiving application fees for undergraduate applicants submitted by ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ residents on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as part of the third annual ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day encourages high-school seniors to successfully apply to a higher-education program and file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All 32 public universities and several private colleges in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ are taking part in this year’s Free App Day.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day caps off ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Applies Month, a five-week campaign that guides 11th- and 12-grade students and adult job seekers along the application process.

The statewide push is designed to increase ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s stagnant college-going and FAFSA completion rates. Despite being one of the most educated states in the country, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ sends just 56% of high school graduates to a college, university or certificate program and just 50% of students submit a FAFSA application — a key indicator of students’ likelihood to continue their education., according to the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Department of Higher Education.
Interested ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students must submit a completed admissions application between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. on Oct. 13 only. Please read ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s fee waiver process below:
- Common Application: Within ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s Member Questions section, answer these two questions like this:
- Do you intend to use one of these school-specific fee waivers? Answer: Yes
- Please provide your University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ fee waiver code here. Answer: freeappday
- Bear App: There is nothing you need to do. Simply submit the application on Oct. 13, 2020, and the fee will automatically be waived for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ residents.

- The second-ever ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free App Day occurred on Oct. 15, 2019, with 45,413 total applications submitted from ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ residents
- All public colleges and universities and several private institutions in the state waived application fees that day
- ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ ranked the third-highest in receiving application at 5,949
- 47% identified as a student of color
- 45% identified as first-generation
- 65% identified as female and 35% identified as male
