On Monday, Jan. 11, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ convened a panel of state legislators and local leaders to preview the topics that will arise once the spring 2021 legislative session kicks off on Jan. 13.

The year 2020 has been marked by a number of unprecedented events taking shape around the world. Since March, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact many areas of society including higher education. Despite the impacts, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s campus community members continued to work on research, scholarship and creative works; strategic planning; academic programming; community, alumni and donor engagement; diversity, equity and inclusion; and athletics.

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will celebrate its spring, summer and fall 2020 graduates virtually this December in accordance with public-health guidelines that limit in-person gatherings due to COVID-19.

Karen Barton, Ph.D., a professor of Geography in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, has been chosen as the 2021 Winchester Distinguished Scholar by ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s Faculty Research and Publications Board.

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ has initiated its own Free App Days where anyone, anywhere in the world can apply as an undergraduate to ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ without paying the $50 application fee.

The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Board of Trustees met virtually on Friday, Nov. 13, with the board’s Finance and Audit Committee presenting first followed by the Regular Board of Trustees meeting.

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ received 5,837 applications on the third annual ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day on Oct. 13, an increase compared to last year’s Free App Day, resulting in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ being one of the top three universities in receiving applications that day.

The ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Department of Higher Education recently announced a new online application that allows ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ students who haven’t historically qualified for federal aid, to complete an application for state financial aid (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA)). The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ helped lead efforts in the collaboration and creation of this new unified state application.

The University of Northern ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ is waiving application fees for undergraduate applicants submitted by ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ residents on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as part of the third annual ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Free Application Day.

The Division of Academic Affairs has implemented organizational changes over the last several months to improve the division’s structure.
