ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Rural Student Teaching Stipend
Get up to $4,000 to help with the cost of student teaching in a rural ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ school. This stipend supports future teachers who want to student teach and work in rural and small rural school districts in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½. This is offered by the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Center for Rural Education and the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Department of Higher Education to help cover living and educational expenses during your student teaching semester.
Application Requirements
To be eligible for the CRTS, you must:
- Be enrolled in a teacher preparation program at a ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ college or university (not an alternative licensure program).
- Be placed in a student teaching role in a rural ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ school district.
- Be committed to teaching full-time for at least 2 years in a rural or small rural district after graduation.
- Plan to teach in a district with fewer than 1,000 students, located 50 miles or more from a major city and outside ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s Front Range.
- Have completed all degree and licensing coursework except for student teaching.
- Have a GPA of 2.75 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
- Stay in touch with the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Center for Rural Education during your student teaching to share updates, complete surveys, and submit a letter from your supervisor confirming successful completion.

Selection and Award Process
If there are more applicants than available funding, recipients will be chosen through a random lottery. The awards will be divided by ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Department of Education region.
